About This Tour
Eight days. Surf the south coast at dawn. Track leopards at Yala. Sleep well in between.
This is the trip for travellers who measure a good day in waves and animal sightings. Three nights of warm-water surf on the south coast (Weligama for beginners, Mirissa for the more advanced break), a Yala safari morning at first light, and Galle Fort thrown in for the evenings off the board. No temples, no Sigiriya climb, no tea train. You came to be in the water and the bush, and this trip gets out of your way and lets you.
Your Route
- Day 1: Colombo Airport → Weligama/Mirissa (~2.5 hr); afternoon surf check
- Days 2–4: South coast surf: dawn sessions, beach days, Galle evenings
- Day 5: Drive to Yala (~3 hr); afternoon surf check at Arugam (seasonal) or Galle stop
- Day 6: Sunrise + afternoon safari at Yala
- Day 7: Drive back to the coast; final surf afternoon
- Day 8: Morning at the coast → drive to airport

The Moments That Will Stay With You
🏄 Dawn surf at Weligama. One of the best beginner surf beaches in Asia. Long shallow break, sandy bottom, mellow vibe. If you've never surfed before, this is where you learn. By the end of three days you'll be standing up cleanly.
🌊 Mirissa. Faster, slightly more technical break than Weligama. Good once you're past the beginner stage. Sunset session with the boats coming in.
🐆 Yala at first light. At 979 km², this southeast-coast park has one of the highest densities of leopards in the world. Dawn is when they move. Sloth bears, wild elephants, mugger crocodiles, 200+ bird species. Open-top jeep, expert tracker.
🐘 Yala afternoon safari. Different light, different animals. Elephant herds at the waterholes. Two game drives in one day dramatically raises your sighting odds.
🏰 Galle Fort evenings. UNESCO listed. Cocktails on a heritage rooftop, the ramparts at sunset, dinner inside the walls.

Good to Know
- South coast surf season: November to April. Outside this window we route to Arugam Bay (east coast surf, season May–October) instead.
- Lessons and board hire run about $25 for a 90-min lesson, $10–15/day for a board. We don't include these so you can choose your instructor.
- Both Yala game drives are in open-top 4×4 jeeps with experienced trackers.
