About This Tour
A small-group cultural tour of Sri Lanka, for travellers who like meeting people on the road.
Our private tours work for couples and families. Our group tours work for everyone else: solo travellers who don't want to do it alone, couples who enjoy meeting other travellers, friends who'd rather share the cost than drive a whole vehicle empty. This is the cultural-focused group tour: eleven days through Sri Lanka's signature sites, in a small group (typically 8–14 travellers), with a single tour leader for the whole trip and the camaraderie of a shared experience. Lower per-person cost than a private tour, with the trade-off that the itinerary is fixed and the pace is set by the group.
Your Route
- Day 1: Group meets in Colombo; welcome dinner
- Day 2: Drive to the Cultural Triangle; village visit en route
- Day 3: Sigiriya climb at sunrise + Dambulla caves
- Day 4: Polonnaruwa by bicycle
- Day 5: Village day in the Cultural Triangle, local lunch, rural life at walking pace
- Days 6–7: Kandy: Temple of the Tooth evening puja + Royal Botanical Gardens
- Day 8: Kandy → Nuwara Eliya tea country
- Day 9: Scenic train to Ella + Nine Arch Bridge
- Day 10: Drive to south coast (Galle)
- Day 11: Galle Fort morning + drive to airport

The Moments That Will Stay With You
🏔️ Sunrise at Sigiriya. The 5th-century rock palace of King Kashyapa. UNESCO listed. 1,200 steps in golden light, the entire group together at the top.
🛕 Dambulla cave temples. Five rock caverns, 153 Buddha statues, 22 centuries of continuous Buddhist worship.
🚴 Polonnaruwa by bicycle. The 11th–13th century capital, UNESCO listed. The Gal Vihara's four colossal Buddha statues, the finest Sinhalese rock sculpture ever made. Bikes are great group-tour fun.
🙏 The 6:30 PM puja at the Temple of the Tooth, Kandy. Drums, conch shells, monks chanting, the gold casket holding the Buddha's tooth relic briefly revealed.
🚂 The blue train from Nanu Oya to Ella. Reserved 1st-class seats for the group. Three hours of tea country rolling slowly past the open doors.
🏰 Galle Fort. UNESCO listed. Portuguese-built, Dutch-fortified, still a living town.
Group or Private: Which Is Right for You
Group tours are wonderful for solo travellers, friends groups, and anyone who values shared experience and lower cost. Private tours (see our 7-Day Highlights, 10-Day Complete or 14-Day Explore) are better for couples, families, and anyone who wants full control over the itinerary, pace, hotel tier, and stop choices. Same destinations; the difference is the company you keep and the level of customisation.
