Sri Lanka's largest national park is also its most mysterious: a maze of forest and natural 'villu' lakes where safaris feel private and sightings feel earned. Fewer jeeps, more wilderness. Wilpattu is not the busiest safari; it is the wildest one.
The Experience
Your private 4x4 winds between forest tracks and open villu clearings where animals come to drink. The quieter setting is exactly why the shy stars of Sri Lankan wildlife, leopards and sloth bears, are regularly seen here without a crowd of vehicles around them.

Sri Lankan leopard (elusive but regularly sighted) · sloth bear (the park's rarest thrill) · elephants near the water · spotted and sambar deer · abundant birdlife around the lakes.
Good to Know
- Morning safari 6:00 AM start (best for active wildlife) or afternoon safari 2:00 PM (best light for photography) · each lasts 3–4 hours.
